2016 AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS, NEBRASKA CHAPTER
EXCELLENCE IN DESIGN

AIA Nebraska, A Chapter of The American Institute of Architects, announced this year’s excellence in design winners in conjunction with their annual convention.

AIA Nebraska presented five Honor Awards and eleven Merit Awards selected from Nebraska architects’ submissions by the following Columbus, Ohio jury members: Jury Chair, Michael Bongiorno, AIA, DesignGroup; Tim Lai, AIA, Tim Lai ArchitecT (TLA); and Yanitza Brongers, Housing Studio Director, Moody Nolan.

Nebraska offered the general public a chance to participate in a separate online voting process to determine the winners from the field of distinguished entrants. Seven winning projects were selected.

The Excellence in Design program is an annual event for Nebraska architects who submit built and unbuilt projects for consideration. Categories for consideration include Architecture, Interior Architecture, Unbuilt, and Details. This year a new category of Excellence in Masonry was developed and sponsored by the Nebraska Masonry Alliance. For Emerging Architects the categories of Unbuilt Design and Architectural Detail were included. Projects are judged based on a variety of features, including unique design, originality, extended use attributes, sustainability, budget and use of environmental surroundings.

AIA Nebraska supports architects in fulfilling their commitment to excellence in design and livability in our buildings and communities. Further information on this year’s design winners and past winners can be found on the American Institute of Architects, Nebraska Chapter’s website www.aiane.org.
