AIA Member Services

Dear AIA Members,

Earlier this Fall, AIA Nebraska received a grant from the AIA National Member Service Alignment Pilot Program. The grant allows each chapter to review member services and examine potential restructuring or consolidating to ensure we are collaborating as a whole in providing our membership core services effectively and efficiently.

A facilitated strategic planning was held October 22 at the AIA Nebraska office. There were three representatives from each chapter in attendance providing input.  Attached are the minutes. Collectively we are in the process of continuing to receive input from Nebraska’s chapter leaders, researching from around the country on how other chapters are reorganizing, and obtaining advice from financial and legal experts. Any proposed changes to the bylaws must be approved by each chapters’ board of directors and membership.

In the meantime, below are links for more information. Please contact your local chapter or AIA Nebraska if you have any questions. AIA Nebraska will keep you updated as any new developments occur.

Updates | Information

AIA Nebraska hosted a member services meeting facilitated by McKinley Advisors on October 22, 2015. There were two representatives from each chapter present. Click here for the meeting minutes and here for the agenda. Shelley Saner with McKinley Advisors presented this information to those in attendance, and AIA Nebraska offered 2013 AIA Nebraska Survey Overview, Historical Figures, and Bylaw Excerpts for each chapter. A Core Member Services Self-Assessment was completed beforehand by each board to discover if there were any gaps in core member services, and how we could potentially fill them.

A follow up from this meeting occurred in conjunction with AIA Nebraska's Leadership Retreat November 20, 2015. All of the current and incoming Board of Directors were invited, and majority of them were able to attend this day-long retreat facilitated by Pat Geary.  This strategizing retreat allowed each component to fully examine and evaluate any potential restructuring or consolidations to ensure we are collaborating as a whole in providing our membership core services effectively and efficiently. Click here for the agenda, and here for the presentation. Each chapter came up with specific "asks" they would like to be addressed to assist them in making their final decision. Follow up meetings, and negotiations are currently being discussed.

A brief summary of the member services at the AIA Omaha members meeting on November 20, 2015 was presented. Please click for agenda.
